Looping - Strategy #1

“Don’t talk about giftedness, inborn talents? One can name all kinds of great men who were not
very gifted. They acquired greatness ... all of them had that diligent seriousness of a craftsman,
learning first to construct the parts properly before daring to make a great whole. They allowed
themselves time for it, because they took more pleasure in making the little, secondary things well than in the effect of a dazzling whole.”
— Friedrich Nietzsche, philosopher

"Writing is a craft as well as an art. There are specific skills that all craftsmen must master. By practicing the strategies in this lesson and others, you will learn how to become a master writer."
- Matt Connolly, wannabe writer

LOOPING

1. Read through what have written in your journal.
2. Pick ONE sentence that has "energy" - It has the potential to be interesting.
3. Copy that one sentence at the top of a fresh piece of paper.
4. Write for five minutes (no cheating - write the whole time) with that sentence as a starting point.
5. Look over what you have written, and choose another sentence with energy.
6. Repeat steps 3-4 for the new sentence.
7. Do the whole process one more time.
8. Look over everything you have written, and post something on your blog.
-You can directly type one of your "loops" or you can revise by combining bits, but give us something with energy.
